A great tour of Scotland - enjoying beautiful scenery and the roads of the NC500.

It seems our clients just love our tours to Scotland and have asked that we put on a tour in 2025, so we are happy to oblige. Due to the popularity of the NC500 route, accommodation can be difficult, however I am pleased to say that we have been able to secure good quality accommodation, consisting of 3 & 4 star hotels and an excellent guesthouse.

The tour will be 8 nights and go in a clockwise direction starting in Dumfries. We get to enjoy some great roads as ride northwards up the west coast of Scotland past the Great Glen and into Wester Ross. The route now known as the NC500 takes us around the top of Scotland to a 2 night stop just south of John O'Groats. This gives us the opportunity to explore the roads of Sutherland and Caithness or even a day trip to Orkney.

On departure we head south through the Grampian Mountains past Braemar to a 4 star hotel in a small Perthshire town. A 2 night stop allows us to ride-out and enjoy the beautiful Trossachs National Park or Fife coastline.

We return past Edinburgh through the Scottish Borders back to the Northumberland countryside.

Although classified as an escorted tour, for those that wish, or are new to touring, there is the opportunity to ride with your escorts, who will now be Alison and Roy, who are no strangers to Scotland and are happy to guide you each step of the way.

Tour prices are inclusive of the following

* 6 Evening meals (vegetarian option available)
* 8 Full regional Breakfasts

Tuesday 3rd June: Today, you will get to meet your guides and fellow riders as you make your way to one of our favourite hotels just over the scottish border. 3 star hotel, Dinner B&B.

Wednesday 4th June (250 miles): We start the day with a ride through the beautiful Galloway & Dumfries countryside to the Ayrshire coast. Here you will get a view of the Isle of Arran before continuing on past the famous Turnberry golf course to catching the ferry across the Firth of Clyde, we pass Holy Loch to enter the Argyll Forest. Our route then takes us alongside Loch Eck and Loch Fyne through the trossachs national park to take us to our hotel at the foot of Glencoe. The hotel has great loch side views and facilities include an inside swimming pool. 3 star hotel, Dinner, B&B.

Thursday 5th June (235 miles): Another day of wonderful scenery and great roads as we take the beautiful coastal road past Fort William. There's time to pay a visit to the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge, and pause to admire the famous Eilean Donan Castle - backdrop for a thousand calendars -before taking one of many routes through Wester Ross to your next overnight stay. One option of course is to enjoy the demanding roads and stunning scenery of the Applecross Peninsular. especially the challenging "Bealach na Ba " (the pass of the cattle), which was an old drove road used historically to take cattle to the market and is one of highest roads in Scotland at 626m (2053 feet). Whatever you choose we all routes arrive at our hotel which sits in a privileged position overlooking Loch Broom. 3 star hotel, Dinner, B&B

Friday 6th June (165 miles): Today you get to ride to the very north of Scotland. Sutherland is probably the most uninhabited region of Britain and offers wild but beautiful scenery with its beautiful unspoilt beaches and dramatic mountains such as Ben Hope, the most northerly of the Munros. Visit Smoo Cave a spectacular sea cave set into the limestone cliffs of the north coast before heading for the famous John O'Groats. Our accommodation for the next two nights is a guesthouse in a lovely fishing village.The Guesthouse hotel has no dining room but there are several restaurants close by. Guesthouse,  B&B

Saturday 7th June (free day) : Your 2 night stay allows you the opportunity to unpack and enjoy a ride-out. Despite being Scotland's fifth-largest county in terms of area, it has a smaller population than a medium-size Lowland Scottish town. It stretches from the Atlantic in the west, up to the Pentland Firth and across to the North Sea in the east. The sea-coasts boast very high cliffs and deep fjords in the east and north, ragged inlets on the west and sandy beaches in the north. The east coast contains the sea lochs of Loch Fleet and Dornoch Firth. The remote far northwest point of Sutherland, Cape Wrath, is also the most northwesterly point in Scotland. Although have ridden the NC500 route around the coast, now you have the opportunity to explore the scenic roads (many single track) that cross through the Highlands. Although it would be a long day there is also the opportunity spend a day on the Orkney Isles.  Guesthouse, B&B

Sunday 8th June (210 miles): Heading south there is a choice of routes, but the favourite must be to enjoy the scenery and roads of the Cairngorms.  Passing Braemar and Glenshee ski resort we enjoy some great biking roads on the way to our next 2 night stop. This time, a  4 star spa hotel with its own pool awaits, just the thing to relax those aches and pains. 4 star hotel, Dinner, B&B.

Monday 9th June (free day): Plenty for you to do today, to the west is the beautiful Trossachs National Park, to the east lies the more gentler county of Fife, with its lovely coastline, great roads and attractions such as RSS Discovery or perhaps a visit to the 'Secret Bunker'.  4 star hotel, Dinner B&B.

Tuesday 10th June (165 miles):  This morning we pass the Knockhill race circuit and Gleneagles golf course before briefly joining the M90 to cross the Firth of Forth on the new road bridge. Taking a scenic route, we pass through the Scottish Borders to our final hotel in the Northumberland countryside. The hotel offers all the facilities you would expect of a 4 star. 4 star hotel, Dinner, B&B.

Wednesday 11th June:  The tour finishes after breakfast, with close connections to the A1 you will be quickly on your way home.
