A great tour to the NW of Ireland with the chance to watch the world-famous NW200 Motorcycle Races
We are pleased to announce that the NW200 race dates have finally been confirmed and we will be attending as usual. Regardless of how many times we go there, we never tire of riding the beautiful Antrim Coast, touring the wilds of the Donegal coast or having a day watching one of Northern Irelands premier sporting events, the NW200 road races.
The tour will arrive in Ireland on Wednesday and depart on Sunday, to ensure that race fans will get to see the racing on Thursday evening and all day Saturday. Regardless of whether you are a race fan or not, there are many other attractions in the area. You can ride the Causeway Coastal Route where you can see the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bride, sample the wares of the Bushmills Distillery, and be amazed by the Giants Causeway, a World Heritage Site. On one of the free days, we take a tour into Donegal where you will enjoy the empty roads and be captured by its wild beauty.
This tour is classified as an escorted tour, giving you complete independence to enjoy what you like best. Which for some this will be the racing, whilst others may like to spend more time exploring Donegal and the beautiful Antrim coast. For those that wish, or are new to touring, there is the opportunity to ride with your guides Roy and Alison Adams, who will be happy to guide you every step of the way.
Tour prices are inclusive of the following:
- Return ferry to Northern Ireland
- 5 Nights' en-suite accommodation at 3&4 star Hotels
- 5 Full regional Breakfasts
- 5 Evening meals (vegetarian option available)
- Guided day tours
- Full use of hotel's leisure facilities
- Route notes / GPS routes as required
- Services of experienced Tour Guides (Roy & Alison)
Accommodation
Your first nights' hotel is a 3 star and located in its own grounds in the town of Dumfries, and is ideal for our onward journey to the ferry port.
Your accommodation in Ireland is of 4 star quality and is situated on the outskirts of Derry. You should be aware that this is within easy riding distance from the NW 200 circuit, but if you want to be in the centre of the action, this may not suit you. However, we have been using this hotel for many years and it has become popular with our customers for not only getting to the NW 200 Road Races, but also touring the Northwest of Ireland. You may want to bring your swimming gear, as the hotel has a large swimming pool and leisure facilities, the use of which is included in your stay. All rooms are en-suite with the facilities you would expect of a 4 star hotel.
Tuesday 6th May: The tour will meet-up at a 3-star hotel set in its own grounds in the town of Dumfries. You should arrive in time for a traditional evening meal and a get-to-know-you session with your fellow riders and Guides for the tour.
Wednesday 7th May: After a leisurely breakfast, we get to enjoy the scenic Galloway coastline as we make our way to Cairnryan to catch a midday ferry to Larne. On arrival, we travel to the outskirts of the historic walled city of Derry, where a 4-star hotel complete with swimming pool is our base for the duration of the tour.
Thursday 8th May: Today is our first opportunity to explore this beautiful part of Ireland. You can ride around the Circuit and spend time at the pits perhaps, before taking to the famous Antrim coastal road. For those that wish, we will be running a guided tour of Antrim's main attractions, but will return to the circuit in time for the evenings racing.
Friday 9th May: A free day on which we can consider our options, but our location makes it perfect for a ride into Donegal or the Sperrin Mountains.
Saturday 10th May: Saturday is Race Day, and the closing of the roads signifies an exciting day of racing. This event, like the IOM TT races, is run on normal roads and lets you witness at close hand the sheer speed of motorcycle road racing. The circuit is 11 miles long and triangular in shape, following the A2 from Coleraine to Portstewart, down the coast road to Portrush, and back on the A29 to Coleraine. Note: Grandstand seating can be booked prior to arrival.
Sunday 11th May: Today we must leave to catch our ferry; we will arrive back to the mainland mid-afternoon, from where we take our leave.
The tour itinerary is based on a Cairnryan (SW Scotland) to Larne crossing. Alternative crossings will be subject to availability and possible higher costs.
